# Wallets

> Your main wallet, the account wallets ftw.trade holds for you, and the project wallets that trade. How keys are kept, and how wallets move between projects.

## Three kinds of wallet

| Wallet | What it is | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| **Main wallet** | Your account's own, on every EVM chain and Solana | Deposits, withdrawals, and funding everything else |
| **Account wallets** | Keys ftw.trade holds for your account | A pool of wallets to place in projects |
| **Project wallets** | Account wallets placed in a project, labeled and grouped | Trading: everything on the project trades from them |

A wallet has one EVM address on every EVM chain and its own Solana address. A wallet is in at most one active project at a time; when a project ends, its wallets go back to the account.

## How keys are kept

- Keys are made and held by an **isolated signer**, a separate service whose only job is signing. The app asks it to sign; it never hands a key out.
- Each key is sealed to its account and address, and checked against its address every time it's opened.
- No strategy, script, workflow or AI ever sees a key. Scripts trade through wallet handles held to the policy you approved.
- You can **export** any account wallet's key (it asks you to have signed in within 15 minutes), or **import** one you already have.

## Groups and labels

Within a project each wallet has a label and any number of groups ("buyers", "fleet", "lead"). Everything that trades picks wallets by id or by group, and a workflow can move wallets between groups, so a desk can rotate buyers or retire a spent wallet.

## Many wallets

A project holds up to 200 wallets. To get many with history:

- **Warm** new ones: fund each on a staggered schedule and run small round trips, so they have history before you need them.
- **Buy** aged wallets from the marketplace on the Wallets page, filtered by age and transaction count. Payment comes from your main wallet, approved with a signature.

## Gas

Every wallet pays its own gas. Keep a little ETH in each on the chains it trades (SOL on Solana). Strategies on protocols bring their own gas to the market's chain.
